How we check — the method behind every verdict

This department's only asset is being right. This page is the standard we hold ourselves to, published so you can hold us to it too.

The $49 Medical Card Kit — $49, one-time payment

The checker reads your verdict. The Kit gets you through the exam: documentation packets for your condition, the two 45-day form clocks run as a calendar, the official medication form packet, waiting-period calendars, failure recovery, and the examiner phone script.

The sources, in rank order

  1. The Code of Federal Regulations: 49 CFR 391.41 (the standards), §391.44 (alternative vision), §391.46 (insulin), §391.49 (SPE certificates), §391.47 (conflicting opinions), §390.35 (fraud), 383.73 (state downgrade), and Appendix A to Part 391.
  2. FMCSA's Medical Examiner's Handbook (2024 edition) — the guidance FMCSA gives the examiners who will judge you, including the advisory waiting-period and monitoring criteria.
  3. FMCSA's own published pages — the exemption program list, the official forms (MCSA-5870, MCSA-5871, MCSA-5875, the 391.41 Medication Form), and the rulemaking record (including the 2017 withdrawal of the sleep-apnea rulemaking).

What never sources a verdict here: clinic marketing pages, forums, AI summaries, or our own earlier drafts. Every matrix page carries its citation and a "Rules checked October 2026" stamp; when a rule changes, the stamp changes with it.

The two modes — and why there are exactly two

Computed mode. Where federal text decides the question — a blood-pressure stage, the insulin form clock, a waiting period — the checker computes, and prints one of the verdicts. Examiner's Call mode. Where federal text deliberately leaves judgment to the examiner — sleep apnea, most medications, hernia, kidney function — the checker refuses to fake a computation. It prints EXAMINER'S CALL and shows you the documentation lever that actually moves the outcome. A tool that prints pass/fail where the law prints discretion is not confident; it is wrong.

The corrections covenant

If any verdict on this site is shown to contradict the federal text, we correct it and re-stamp the page within a week. Two such corrections in a quarter freeze kit sales until the dataset is re-verified end to end. That covenant is not marketing; it is the kill line this department operates under, published in advance.

The state-variance note

This launch covers the federal interstate standards. Drivers who operate intrastate only may fall under state medical rules that differ from the federal text (several states run modified regimes). If that is you, your state's rules govern your certificate — the federal answer on this site is the reference point, not your rule.

What we are not

We are not medical examiners, not a clinic, not your doctor, and not FMCSA. Only a certified medical examiner on the National Registry can certify you. We read the published standards carefully, cite them on every page, and tell you plainly where they end and judgment begins.
