A current alcoholism diagnosis — what the standard actually says

The $49 Medical Card Kit — $49, one-time payment

The checker reads your verdict. The Kit gets you through the exam: documentation packets for your condition, the two 45-day form clocks run as a calendar, the official medication form packet, waiting-period calendars, failure recovery, and the examiner phone script.

What the federal text says

The standard disqualifies a driver with a current clinical diagnosis of alcoholism. The operative word is current: the standard is a diagnosis standard, not a lifetime-history standard. A driver in sustained recovery whose treating clinician no longer diagnoses current alcoholism is judged on documentation of that status.

What that means for you

A current diagnosis means not qualified. A documented recovery is a different case — the door is your treating clinician's current evaluation, in writing, not time served alone and not your own say-so.

What moves the outcome

Bring a current written evaluation from the clinician treating you, addressing diagnosis status and sustained recovery. If you are in a carrier's return-to-duty process after a drug or alcohol violation, that is a separate federal regime (Part 40) — this page covers the medical standard only.

Which mode is this?

This question is decided by the federal text itself. The verdict above is computed from the cited words — your examiner is bound by the same text.

Only a certified medical examiner on the National Registry can certify you. FreightVerdict reads the published federal standards — it does not certify, diagnose, or treat, and nothing here is medical advice.
